More about Steven Jones

Steven Jones is a dedicated public servant who has been working for the Texas Department of Public Affairs (TXDPA) since 2014. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Political Science.

Steven began his career as a Legislative Aide in the TXDPA’s legislative office, where he worked on policy initiatives and helped to craft legislation that was eventually passed by state lawmakers. From there, Steven moved up the ranks quickly, becoming the Deputy Chief of Staff in 2016 and the Chief of Staff in 2018. In his current role, Steven oversees all operations within TXDPA and provides guidance to agency staff on how to best serve their constituents.

Throughout his tenure at TXDPA, Steven has strived to be an advocate for all Texans. He takes pride in helping people understand how policy affects their lives and works hard to ensure that everyone can access important government services. His passion for public service has been noticed by many, earning him several awards throughout his career including the “Public Service Award” from The Texas Tribune in 2019.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Steven is also an active member of his community. He volunteers regularly with local non-profit organizations which focus on helping children learn important life skills such as financial literacy and healthy eating habits.
